Kaisa Elovaara is the founder of Sisu Pilates and a certified Pilates instructor from Finland. She previously owned her own studio in Helsinki and brings the Finnish concept of Sisu—representing grit, resilience, and inner fortitude—to the practice of contemporary Pilates.
Kaisa is BASI (Body Arts and Science International) trained, a program recognized for its scientific and athletic approach. She utilizes the BASI Block System to ensure every session is structured and balanced to build functional strength. Before moving to New York in 2019, she lived in Singapore, California, and Connecticut.
Her lifelong relationship with movement began as a competitive gymnast, a background that instilled in her a deep appreciation for discipline, precision, and form from a young age. Today, Kaisa lives in Westchester with her husband and dog, and has three grown children. When she is not in the studio, she enjoys tennis, snowboarding, sailing, cooking, knitting, and crocheting. All sessions are private and held in her Fleetwood home studio.
